What camera and lenses do you use?

My mate takes the shots from the land, I do the water stuff. He's got a Canon 20d and a 300mm lense, soon to be 800. It was a shame he couldnt get closer on some of those pics but the 800mm should solve that problem, it was also pretty hazy which doesn't help. You can see more of his shots HERE

I take it hes getting a Canon 400mm f2.8 L with a x2 TC. Now thats what you call a real lense. When i win the lottery thats gonna be my first buy. But if i went out and bought a £3000+ lense my missis would cut my balls off!
It wouldnt be a 800mm it would be more like 1120mm cause of the 20d's x1.6 crop factor.
I use a Sigma 50-500mm with my 20d so that gives me a 760mm focal length which isnt bad but for most beach breaks it gets a little soft at 500.
Get him to join the forum, would be good to some of his stuff with his new lense.

Will do. Hes having problems with his body at the mo, gets lines across the image, and weird ghosting. Looks like a refund and upgrade job!

hi matts got the spec a bit wrong its a 300d (now fu*ked after only 10weeks ) and ive got a canon 100mm to 400mm l is lens in the post to me so i think my balls are safe,
unlike the shop manager if i dont get my cash back for the 300d

Only reason I ask as some of the shots look like ones I took.

I was stood on the rocks in front of the guy with the video camera. just hope I wasnt in his way.

To be honest I cant remember who was there and who wasnt. Only other thing I remember were the clampers, who were clamping anything in sight.

One thing I couldnt believe was how dam busy it was. I thought it would be quiet, being a week day. wot was I thinking .

Ended up surfing harlyn in the end. Not very good really. But at least I got in the water.

I have got a canon eos 10D and canon eos 30. Was using a 300mm zoom lens. Will hopefully be getting my canon ef 400mm prime lens in May.

got a new cam today a 350d its very small but the specs almost as good as the 20d (but half the price) 8mp and 3fps lets see wot it does this weekend eh

Should known really.

Only ever been there fridays or over a weekend.

And then i always go some where else coz I hate the crowds.

Good wave but would rather go somewhere else where you can catch some waves and have a chat with other guys.
