The girlfriend got me some oil paints and a canvas for crimbo even though i haven't ever painted anything before. Found it really relaxing until i realized most of the paint was all over me and the table, walls and anything else i had stuck my grubby mits on throughout the day. Good fun though and think i could get into it.

Cheers longz. I have now been banned from the livingroom after spending half an hour removing white oil paint from our new sofa.
Did this one over the weekend but can't decide if i like it or if it looks like a 3yr old has done it. A bit of both maybe

Re: Surf Art

Postby LongZ » Tue Jan 04, 2011 12:42 pm

I'm using this thread to first introduce my baby for 2011: D.S.A, aka Daily Surf Art.

http://dailysurfart.blogspot.com/

It's a blog I started back in November with fellow artist Ronan Guivarch (some of ye know his work on FB) to promote each other's work and the idea was to have new small surf related Daily Painting to offer on the blog everyday. Since then we've had a few people joining and the site is developing into a great collective of artists:

Lani Gregory (Achill, Ireland)
Phillip Morrison (Lahinch, Ireland)
Pauline Beugniot (France)
Matt Beard (US)
Robb Havassy (US)
Lisa Riehl (Canada)
and of course Ronan Guivarch and myself.

...and a lot more coming in January.

The site is free, there's no commission or fee for anyone and it's entirely up to the artists to decide how often they post new art, if and how they want to sell it online etc ... The only rules are to keep it small, surf, and cheap enough.
The real benefit is that each artist bring their own following to the site, so it's working on mutual promotion of each other's work.
hope ye like it.

Loving the art on this thread... those wood carvings are great, I love the way the grain highlights the shape of the wave like a contour map. Great to see Coxies first paintings too....

I haven't done anything for ages but this thread is getting me inspired again!

LongZ, they are basically "desktop" size. They range from about 5"x5"x5" to the larger one that might be about 6" tall x 10" wide x 6" deep. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with them. Haha.

Curious, I'd love to see the colours your chick uses for the landscape/sunset stuff but with less detail. Nice bold lines, especially where the sea meets the land. I think I like em tho :-D

Nice chopes there too... here's another chick I found who's stuff you may like... http://www.annemariereichman.com/

That italian painter is also sick- differnt from the usual groomed surf painting style.

Ryan, your wood pieces are great too-wanna toch em up!

Longz- nice one for starting this- liking the cartoony stylage but gotta say i prefer the backgrounds on their own in a way.

Droog79- First I used blogger...and edited the PAGES within your specific blog. It will allow you to name the Pages i.e. (HOME, CONTACT, ABOUT, ART, PHOTO, ...whatever). Then you can also move the order of those pages around and have the Header look however you want it. Hope it helps.
