taping down your lens

Postby mikan1089 » Wed Sep 26, 2012 4:56 am

i just got my new waterhousing and lens, getting ready to get in the water in the next couple of days. I've read some people tape down there lens after manually focusing. Is this something i should do and if so how do you go about doing it?

You tape it incase the focus changes when your setup takes a hammering. Set your lens to focus (normally just inside infinity), and put some tape on it where the focus ring moves. Simple as that.

Not really an issue. Most modern housings have a back focus button so you can reset your focus with that when shooting wide.
But focus can shift when you get really slammed so it's worth keeping an eye on.

Depends how sticky the tape is. The stuff I use is awesome so only need a couple of inches to hold in place.

He some and give it a try. If uncertain add more.
