lokbox - FCS gripit adapter

Any discussion on shaping, designing, repairing and riding surfcraft of any type or shape. Also a good place to ask the 'what board should I buy?' question.

lokbox - FCS gripit adapter

Hey

Anyone know where I might get my hands on a set of these in Ireland? Or someone in the UK who might post one? The MSW store seems to be out of stock..

Thanks

Tried them absolute crap, if you like your Fcs fins keep them for Fcs plugs . I tried to fit them in lokbox fin plugs and was a pain in the arse, the adapters and fcs fins being pushed into the lokbox fin plugs are way too tight !

very handy when travelling surfing shallow reefs cos the fcs fin knock out pretty easy and dont damage your board, handy things 8) 8)

Just keep an eye out when your in the water to make sure they don't work loose. The pressure on the inside foil of a fin is quite high, especially on tight turns...you'll end up loosing a fin. Hope this helps.

when people ask for gripits i put them into the board with my impact driver, i generally get a call a few weeks later saying i cant get the screw undone

you cannot over tighten the lokbox box as the screw is stainless steel and the thread is brass, people just get scared of tightening them in enough due to bad experinces with fcs fins threads striping!!

i take a demo fin around with me and i ask shapers to try and force the fin out nobody has succeded yet and they have had screwdrivers and chisels at it!

i'll second that comment about the fit for lokbox. You have to really work your fins into the box, and tighten the crap out of them to get them to fit correctly. I find I have to wiggle them as far as they'll go, then tighten the screw, then wiggle some more. Always check after the 1st surf, and they will "settle" a bit as well.

However, that is how they are supposed to work, and the only way you get the most out of it. They will not feel as "connected" otherwise. Plus, if they are not in correctly they won't load the fin tab or box properly, and you won't get the full benefit of the strength/flex.

just my 2p....
learn the rules, so you can break them properly
