Any discussion on shaping, designing, repairing and riding surfcraft of any type or shape. Also a good place to ask the 'what board should I buy?' question.

5'10 seems plenty big enough for your weight imo.

I'm the same size as you, my mate has a 6' SA Mollusc and I have the 6'2", his is 33L mine is 35L . Rode his the other day and 2L makes a difference. Can you get your hands on both boards and have a good feel...I think that's your best bet.

I'm 5'10 and 12 1/2 stone and ride a 5'6" HK. I should add I don't wear a wetsuit. It's really flat and paddles easy. Honestly think it might be the best board I've ever owned. Surf it from 1' to plenty overhead and love it.

Whoah, too much info

Seriously, they look like they work really well....

I'm a big fan of Craig Anderson's surfing, so may be a bit biased, but I think he's riding one at solid G-land in the new Quik 'Moments' movie and making it all look too easy.

Yeah, he's got a pretty amazing style. Much of his surfing seems to be done with the lower half of his body, with the top half remaining quite static and relatively upright a lot of the time:

Go to the hayden shapes website and there is a chart with suggested volumes for rider weight. Im 72kgs and just bought a 5 6 hypto krypto. If you want a board to grovel on ,or if your not competent, I would go one size up from the size hayden suggests.- If you want an allrounder for clean good waves, and you can surf okay, stick to the suggested sizes.

So I reckon its a choice between a 5 8 and a 5 10 rather than a 5 10 and 6 0 !

I don't want to be a party pooper, but aren't they manufactured by 'Global Surf Industries'? If yes, they are carrying a hefty price tag?

They are now yep. Was BASE before they went tits up. My next one (and I shall definitely be replacing this one when it wears out) will be a copy by my local boy Bart. Shame really cost it's undeniably a great shape.

Have now surfed the hypto krypto a couple of times and I love it. Picks up waves super super easy, and you can crank a turn off the bottom with ease ,and its loose off the top. Worth the money IMO, only problem is ,its a bit of a quiver killer, something for absolute junk and this board would cover any situation I rekon, unless you live in hawaii :-D

Good news!

Surfed well over head beachies for last four days here and loved it. Photo below is Maroochydore, I surfed a little further North and popped down here to take some photos (never anybody out at my spot to get a scale (shame 8) )) Maroochydore is generally a foot smaller as it's inside point Cartwright.

Ah, the good old Sunny coast beachie... Had some cracking surfs around there :D

One of the local lads, Alex Baker, is living over there at the moment and I think he's getting some boards from Hayden. Keep an eye out for a skinny goofyfooter popping air reverses and say G'day, he's a nice kid.

Yeah its been pumping round ere. I do miss the luxury of channels though   Decorator and myself got caught out a cracker. Little undergunned on my rocket, hypto would have been handy....it covers every base really

Sat watching this perfect left bank in front of gf's all day sunday with no-one out. No energy for it myself:
