Fin Polishing

Postby mister-griffster » Thu Oct 18, 2012 7:59 pm

I've got a few polished / laquered glass fins with a variety of chips, scratches etc that I'd like to bring back to a spanking condition. (actually I'm not too bothered but need something to do when the nights are dark and long)...

Can anyone give some step by step tips on reconditioning the fins and possibly color matching etc - I'm a total newb to this so clear instructions are a must

if its just a scratch you can sand it back and then bring it back through the grits then polish it
if the scratch is deep you will change the shape of the fin doing this better just to make scratch bigger in this case and fill with resin then sand and polish it.

no point in colour matching them

any chips fill with resin as above

crushes or where you see fibre don't bother trying it is unfixable only way is to cut it out and reshape the fin.
