my new log, Con Super Ugly

Any discussion on shaping, designing, repairing and riding surfcraft of any type or shape. Also a good place to ask the 'what board should I buy?' question.

my first proper expensive longboard. years of spending £100 or less on beaten up things is at an end.

it's a 9'8 x 23 x3

lots of volume up the front, kinda almost a concave on the deck up there to help with toes over. concave underneath is subtle compared to the "scoops" you see around but runs right down the end.

the tail has a fair bit of kick, which really helped sell me the board cos i didn't want anything too clunky.
meanwhile the rails at the back seem to want to suck water over the tail of the board to lock it into noserides.

cannot wait for it to be small and clean!!!

question: keep the 10" fin in that colour or swap for wooden look version?? purely a question of aesthetics i know

I would say that fin looks fine fella. Maybe try something different like the Justin quintal for even more hold or the velzy noserider 9.5 to loosen that baby up a touch. Cant beat a mammoth fin quiver ;)

Yeuck - you don't want that - I'll happily dispose of it for you...

Lovely!!! just lovely - I can vouch for the Velzy Noserider - hold but loosey goosey- - otherwise something like a Brothers marshall or a Bing Calvani model (the shape he gives away with the Elevator)

BTW - if you go wood - go John Cherry ;)) - seriously a wood fin is best on a log like this - more 'positive' buoyancy than a glass fin - Wegener if you can get one - he swears by a wooden fin

thanks for the info, yeah i looked at a wooden one but it was a wood effect glass one so sticking with what i got. hell i aint even ridden it yet. aint surfed for a week cos of wind and work.
was thinking saunton tmw am but it'll be too big for that board so i'd stick on the shortboard.
can't wait for summer morning cruisy sessions on it, there's something not right about cross stepping and hanging five in booties
