Foam Blank sink/collapse

Any discussion on shaping, designing, repairing and riding surfcraft of any type or shape. Also a good place to ask the 'what board should I buy?' question.

Foam Blank sink/collapse

Just picked up a cheap longboard with some foam blank collapse and the underside. Will this dramatically effect the boards characteristics ?
I rode it today for the first time and it felt weird (quite unstable and kept sinking rails when turning) but not sure if it was just me. It was really small surf so that may not have helped.

strange its on the underside :? but yes it will!!! depending on where it is, and how deep. any changes, even tiny ones, to the contours of the belly of the board, can make a huge difference.

if you picked it up real cheap why not think about getting someone to just fill the compression, so its flush again? the extra bit of misplaced placed weight could be better than what you have going on already.

just a thought :-)
