been idling on swaylocks when i should be working, like the idea of a shaping a bamboo core then glassing as against laying up loads of glass.. except can't find any bloody bamboo sheets over here.

Try a bambo chopping board. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=b ... ping+board
Seal it with one or to coats of resin then glass (i think i used 2 6oz but cant fully remember) then sanding coat. i use roving around mine to give it a nice edge.
That how i do it, probably not the way the pros do but it works for me.

I've not made fins but 10mm sounds very thick especially if you are adding glass too??

10mm is fine if your double foiling them :P
