Micro balloon mix as hotcoat alternative?

Running seriously low on resin and can't afford any more at the moment.

I've been laminating a little 5'9" with left over resin from doing other boards.

To save resin & possibly weight I was thinking of using a micro balloon/resin mix as an alternative to a standard hotcoat.

Anyone tried this?

like your logic...
know of people who have done coats like this to hide sins on home builds , before spraying then hot coat..
so maybe yes , maybe no ....
or you could just hot coat the deck till you have saved up some money
for a trip south of river.

Decided to give it a go on one side today....won't be trying it again.

micro balloons prevented the wax rising so will have to put a thin resin coat over it before sanding...so would have been easier to just hotcoat....lesson learnt.

posts like these reveal the value of having a hart, ab3, coxie , royal, jimo .....types lurking on forum.
that said , could be most of them also learnt the time consuming way...
