Skindog or Fourth??

Any discussion on shaping, designing, repairing and riding surfcraft of any type or shape. Also a good place to ask the 'what board should I buy?' question.

Skindog or Fourth??

Postby benjamin007 » Sat Mar 16, 2013 9:43 am

After a new longboard and looking for a all round longboard, had a Fourth and was nice if a little too performance, Lufi Skindog looks like a more versitile board

Anyone got any reviews on this model or others??

Cheers

The Lufi is probably the most performance mal you can buy. If your after an allrounder a Bing Lovebird (single) or Hobie PNR is the more forgiving template you could be after. I found the Neville shaped Hobies surfed better than the American imports.
If you surf a longboard all the time and not a shorter board, yes go for the Lufi, but if your after a board that will still turn in small waves go for the above or similar template and rails as I've mentioned, being it English or Americano.

Yeah the Bing boards are nice but pricey, I do ride a shortboard but only if its classic and pumping so I'm looking for a board that will do most things from small waves to bigger waves.

Maybe a Lufi or a bearman pro with a flatter rocker and a bit more volume is the answer?

go see a shaper! Chops appears to have an extensive range of 'all round' surfboards, as does Steve at Empire and Fluid Juice also do to.

mind you Chops never seems available in mine and other friends experience.... where as Steve or Phil will bust a nut to help you.mate has a a allrounder from Fluid Juice that'l go in anything over a foot. It's his favourite board and he's had your McTavishes and what not.

It doesn't sound like either will be what you need. If you want a skindog with more volume than the Lufi then the All Rounder or Performance Noserider would be better, or the Quiver QNR.
The best solution which has already been mentioned is go to a shaper and explain what you want and let them make to right one for you. You can even do that with the fouth or skindog boards
