Any discussion on shaping, designing, repairing and riding surfcraft of any type or shape. Also a good place to ask the 'what board should I buy?' question.

fin for vbowls

Hi Guys
noobie from newquay here, quick fin question/advice, just got a ryan lovelace 8.0 v bowls any thoughts on a good fin for this board. I know i want something with a bit of flex
maybe a greenough style fin. I have a 8.5 inch skip fry on my 7.0 christianson c bucket which i thought might do a job any thoughts on this along with size and position would be good
as this is a kinda different board to what im used to with elements of both hulls and the wayne lynch evolution type board with modern elements thrown in. cheers

Hi,
I'm using a 9.25 A flex on my 7'6" Vaqueros and in the middle of the box.
I push the fin a little forward or a little back, depending on size, condition etc of the waves..

I've been having fun exploring fins with my 8'6 hot generation which I think is similar?

Best of the lot is definitely 9" liddle flex - lovely balance between drive & tail slipping although rider error does still happen & I end up bouncing down the face on my arse every now & then!!! Thinking about it, may be a 9.5" I'm using; can check if u want?

Tried a A flex but it was 9.75 that I had for a log & I think it was too big - perhaps a 9.25 would do it?

Hope that helps

Let us know how it goes chap - I've got a v bowls fin in mine - I'm just not being served up the waves to get it wet - The $a has a bit more base, little less tip and lot less flex than the V bowls fin - be interesting to see how it goes ;)
