For some of us as the winter edges closer and and the conditions start to get harder (in the U.K at least) some of our focus starts to change from heading down the beach to making our way to the mountains to get our boardriding fix.

We've set up in the Chamonix Valley in an awesome luxury chalet minutes from the lifts and aim to make our guests feel completely at home and relaxed from the minute they arrive until they leave.

Hey Chris, found this thought you might find it interesting...

Gilbert White (18 July 1720 – 26 June 1793) recorded the effects on world climate after the eruption of the Icelandic volcano Laki in 1783. Laki is just next door to Eyjafjallajokull, the volcano which has caused airlines trouble this year in Europe.

In the years after Laki erupted the climate chilled in Europe and thousands died from famine caused by crop failure due to the cooler weather, I am not sure the size of the current Icelandic eruptions will cause a famine in these modern times, however it might cause cooler average temperatures which could result in fantastic snow conditions next winter season.

Not too sure what I think to going hungry this winter but for good snow conditions I suppose it might just be worth it??

V Interesting. Had first snows in Scotland, but just had a warmer spell, so it's fading again. First winter climbs of the seanon have been done in the 'gorms though. oping to make a trip to Europe this year, won't be Cham again though.
