colombia in summer

worth a trip?
missus is a teacher and HAVE to take have a big trip in the summer holidays (not bitter honest...) Was thinking Peru, flights just too expensive, possibly Indo dry season barrelfest, but keen to have a bit more of a different trip.. Colombia looks rad and seems to be less scary at the moment..any useful info would be gratefully received.

Cheers!

In the same situation, looked at Peru, great time for waves and seeing the Andes but the coast is a little barren/cold for a non-surfing partner. Have a friend working in Columbia at the momenet (oil and gas) reckons there are good point set ups but may miss out on south swells at that time of year. Central America apparently a good shout although wet.

was thinking about some the spots around Nuqui, but it looks like you have to go balls out and pay for an expensive eco lodge and hire a boat out...much more expensive than I thought!
