Spain in May - South vs. North

Postby Basi » Thu Apr 04, 2013 10:36 pm

Shalom fellow children of the waves,

this May I have the possibility to go to spain to surf but have to choose between the north (San Sebastian, La Zureola, a city I very much love) and the south, a small town near Cadiz I know nothing about but it sounds very good as well.
Im forth and back a lot so maybe some of you can give me your input about how you would choose - I would appreciate it! :)

thank you very much!
Sebastian

San Sebastian (Zurriola) is now my favourite break in this area. I'm regularly there with time to kill so frequently take the opportunity to have a surf.
As well as the surf the city is also one of the best places in the world for food, drink and therefore nightlife. I wrote a bit more about it here: http://www.biarritzairporttransfers.com/Biarritz-to-San-Sebastian.html

Then again I haven't been to Cadiz so haven't got the ability to compare the two.

in May you're only looking at north spain. it'll be near enough flat around Andalucia

uhh damn - but thanks for the hint :)

so far I was aiming for the north (Cadiz region) bc info in the net gave similar swells of around 50% ridable for both...
I do have my kite with me and could also go for that but to be honest I would rather appreciate good waves.

In may, Cadiz is a bad option. No waves.Go north better.

Greets from Spain!

area around Coruna in Galicia is great for surf and kiting. lots of shelter, nice landscape.

Plus 1 for Galicia, what a place. although it does get a lot of rain so weather not guaranteed.

Around Cadiz is good when it's on but thinking that October to April is the best season there as surfrat says

Plus 2 for Galicia - probably the most overlooked area in Europe for waves and great wine as well
