Tiger Airlines and Board Lengths

Postby tlearyus » Sat Sep 16, 2017 10:42 pm

Am flying to Sydney on my way to the Maldives (can't wait) and I just noticed on the Tiger Air website they have a max board length of 190cm even if you pay extra as nominated sports equipment. My 2 boards are both 6'6 (198.12cm) and 6'8 (203cm).

Should I try my luck and see if they will allow them anyway? Has anyone else managed to exceed these limits?
It does so they might at their discretion.

Have flown Tiger without boards a few times and never seen any check in staff, its fully automated, you get your luggage labels from the machine and get a receipt from the bag drop, if you bag is overweight it will not move forward onto the belt, have seen people repacking into other bags.
Oversize stuff goes to the section used by other airlines and is manned by an airport worker not employed by Tiger, have seen this at SYD AND BNE, i'd take a chance as 6'8 is still relatively 'Short'.
