Help getting into a wetsuit

Postby chewbacca » Thu May 27, 2010 11:09 am

Any ideas to make it easier to get into my wetsuit (RipCurl F Bomb) without having to dislocate my shoulders every time?

Do people use talc or would this ruin the wetsuit?

Hi buddy,
you can use the old technique. Try putting a plastic bague in your foot or arm before putting it into the wetsuit, it'll slide like soap on a wet floor. try it out and give us your feed back

Not sure about the shoulders, but putting a plastic bag on your foot helps your leg glide in a lot easier.

FLOOMP! I remember the day I learnt the ways of the plastic bag - quartered my "struggling into a wetsuit while looking at the sets roll in" time.

I have invented The Slippy, http://www.theslippywetsuit.com/, a low-resistance sock that helps you get into your wetsuit and keeps the integrity of those expensive suits. No more tugging, pulling, frustrating & tiring pre-surf / scuba / swim rituals. The Slippy is the answer.

Also, if you use the plastic bag trick, The Slippy is the enviro-solution. Ban the bag!

Use The Slippy instead of a plastic bag. http://www.theslippywetsuit.com/

Surf Jimmy is better, it's $8.00.

Or simply a shopping plastic bag. It's fantastic.

In terms of the arms, one thing that might help (or might not matter at all) is the arm you put through first. In Jimmo's video link, I noticed that the first arm the guy puts through is the side of the open end of the zip line (i.e. left arm). This way, I think, you have the fully flexibility of the wetsuit across the opening, unaffected by the rigid zip line, to get the left arm through easily. Then once the left arm is in, the right arm can go through with less flexibility required, as the wetsuit is already over one shoulder. Similarly, the guy takes his left arm out first too to get out of the wetsuit.
