Right board for me

Postby andyjenkins221 » Wed Nov 28, 2012 7:01 am

Hey guys,

So I went down to my local surfboard shop ( in goldcoast) and asked about a begginer board that I could learn on and have for a while after, he recomended a 7'6, 21 1/4 , 2 3/4 funboard. I have read some sites online and most recomend a lot bigger boards. I have had it on trial but not really got a chance to use it more than 30 mins.

What do you guys think? I'm 6'2 220 pounds.

I'd reckon to learn on you'd probably need something a bit wider , maybe 23" & maybe a bit thicker 3" - think you need a bit more foam than what the shop's offering ........ but hey, opinion's are like arseholes - everyone's got one 8)

I agree, you should go longer, wider and thicker to make it as easy as possible for yourself. Something at least 9' will be loads easier to surf than a 7'6. If you are very athletic you could probably get the 7'6 working but it might take longer than it would with a longboard.
