Looking for a van for use going surfing as well as daily commute. We have a t4 but not economical for day to day use. Looking for something smaller to get changed in and put 8ft minimal in, as well as decent mph. Looking at bipper or partner van or mpv nemo, berlingo or a caddy. Any suggestions welcome. Work is hundred mile round trip north cornwall to plymouth. upto 5grand budget any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I've got an 05 plate VW Caddy. An 8ft board fits diagonally across the back, and with the seats forward, I can sleep in it (about 6ft tall) in a straight line. I'm also getting about 45mpg out of her too. Used to have T5, and downsized to this due to cheaper fuel, tyres etc. I'm saving about 1/3 on fuel each month! The only thing I would say is that it's not really tall enough to get changed in. If you could get one with a tailgate though, you'd be grand!

Ended up spending a bit more cash. But decided on a citroen berlingo 09 plate and loving it. Huge compared to old shape and tons of space. Internal roof rack will be useful with a shorter board. Drive to work today got 54mpg. Went for 5 seater mpv rather than van for more options if needed. Think i made a good choice.
