Wanted: Beginner board near Edinburgh

Postby ChasVB » Sat Apr 13, 2013 3:42 pm

I'm to the point that I'm sick of renting a board and want to buy something inexpensive and used so I can get in the water more often. I am a strong swimmer and found I preferred something around or under 8' in length, but I'm open for anything cheap that gets me out there. I'm pretty flexible as long as the board is 7' or more. Let me know if you have a board or some advice.

Cheers,

Charles

try Sam at www.c2csurfschool.com - he has some ex-hire boards & customer boards that he sells.

or steve at www.stvedas.co.uk - he's got some 2nd hand boards

there's a Scottish facebook group for 2nd hand boards set-up by Jason Burnett : https://www.facebook.com/Jsurfboards

or Gumtree - usually loads of boards for sale through that way.

Thank you much, ATTMFKH! I've been keeping an eye on gumtree for something near Edinburgh with no success so far, but the other options sound great as well. I figure cast a wide net. Nice of you to take the time to help out someone new! Take care and all the best.

no worries Chas - one in Glasgow for £70 - more of a big wave gun http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/surfboard/1014816080

not a beginners board ......

8ft foamie in the Deen - http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/surfb ... 1014496743

learn on it , get your paddle fitness up, nail your pop up , sell it on for similar price......

or check out Martin McQueenie : http://www.prolibertysurfboards.co.uk/index.htm , he'll shape you a good one - Weegie on here got a great deal on a new board from him.

Great guys! So much help! I'm going to take a look at the one on gumtree. It's really close in size (2 inches longer) to my friends mini mal which I love. Might suit me well. Lucky for me, the paddle fitness is there because I'm a lifelong swimmer. It's the balances and pop up strength I need. Maybe a sh#! load of surfing will remedy that :P .
