what is the maximum length for a mini simmons ?

I'm 6'3" and 235lbs. I have a shaper making me a mini simmons and he's thinking it should be 6'10". I see most boards are in the under 6ft range.

Any thoughts on dimensions based on my size ? I would really appreciate any input...

Up to 8-9' for a mini-simmons. Over that and you're in maxi-simmons territory.

I reckon a mini Simmon's is anything under 6'......6' 10" is huge!

Im 5'8", bout 11st....i ride/rode a 5'8" & a 5'6".....both felt too big. They pack in alot of volume.

no offence to your shaper but that is MILES too big. is he experienced in making them? i weigh the same as you and im about an inch shorter. i've ridden a 5'6 with no problems at all and it was a freakoid from Dale @ Ectic so it was quite a radical evolution on the traditional simmons shape. i reckon i could have even gone 2'' shorter.
i also have a 6'2 simmons and its WAY too big. i ride it like a longboard.
if he's planning on making it 22ish wide and 3'' thich, at 6'10 you might as well put a mast and sail on it.

go for a 5'8. thats my advice. you will still be able to duck dive it and the volume will hold your weight easily.

/\ What he says. I'm 6'2", 200 lbs. I like bigger boards and I reckon 5'-8" to 5-10" would be what I'd go for personally, after riding one in that range. Others of similiar stature would probably go shorter. I'd say 6' Max.

That board would work but would be more like a longboard.

For someone your size I'd go about 6 x 22/23 x 3.

You would make up for the need for extra wight in the width and thickness, not the length.
