Was surfing some nice bowling rights reeling down the reef early yesterday morning on my own. Another reared up as I was paddling back out so I tried to turn quickly to get it but was too late on the take off and went over the falls landing on my fin. Fin broke after jabbing my foot, pissing blood everywhere. Looked like I was wearing a red sock. Local in van rushed over with steristrips and gauze and then I got stitched up in Lagos. Great service in the hospital, free with e111 other than 15e tax

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_ ... f=bookmark

I decided before turning that this was my last wave of my two weeks here. Was too casual having had a nice solo surf for an hour.

First time I've had stitches when awake. Never had em before this year but last set were in my knob earlier thus year for a circumcision but that's another story and under general

Ouchy. I'm suffering with a fecked elbow at the moment. Maybe I'm getting to old for this hard bouldering malarkey. The injuries stop me doing other things too.

Walked like a gimp last week - thought one leg was longer than the other. Got bounced off the bottom at a Rivermouth last week, hurt my pelvis top LHS and it made me walk weird , limping on my RHS - was pretty sore until I went surfing yesterday and now it's sorted :?

So there I was being all fancy and trying to hit the lip as the wave closed out in front of me..... Lip hit the board, flipped it into my leg(ouch) and then flipped it again into my ribs. Thought I had broken a couple of ribs but thankfully(2days later) the pain is starting to ease a bit so maybe they're not broken.

On a side note, Nurofen is an awesome painkiller!

morphine is the daddy, after my appendix burst I was really ready for it but had to get myself into Edinburgh then between hospitals before I finally got it pushed into a vein. One of the great moments of my life, followed by a low point when a finger was jammed up my arse.

Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
Whacked my shin, nothing really to see on my leg (unlike some of the photos on here!) but by heck that's some pain. Most painful surf injury I can remember.
Still carried on for another hour though!

Shins are bloody painful, slipped a foot off a pedal on a mountain bike a few times, to the point of where I have felt physical sick

A mate broke his jaw in two places, last weekend, his board hit him in the face, titanium plate screwed in and a wired up jaw.

I do wonder about some kind of fracture and I know the sickly feeling but after some dollops of ibuprofen gel through the evening, its improving. I've been battered from top to bottom shin-wise before but not so painful as this.

Anyone ever had bunion problems?

I've never had but recently the sole of the knuckle of my big toe has started playing up. I think it may be cos I've recently been skating a lot on the carver and you pump with that part of your foot. Anyway its been hurting for a month now and I'm getting bored of it! Not terrible pain just niggly and annoying. Enough to put you off when you initially jump to your feet as you get a little stabbing pain straight away. Boots have helped a bit. I've stopped skating so much and am hoping it just goes away. Any clever advice anyone?

Not fucked anymore! (touch wood!) Sports massage on my forearms and physio on hunched shoulders plus loads of stretching and feeling fairly strong right now.

Skating more due to such poor swell in the North Sea this Autumn.

AC separation on right shoulder this morning, back to the hospital tomorrow morning to get a full damage report. Looks like a grade 3 from my uneducated googling.

Anyone had it happen? How long were you out for?

Very impressed with RVI in Newcastle, very efficient.

I got a grade 4 Ac seperation after falling off a motorbike. Opted not to have surgery.. Had physio once a week, theraband exercises daily etc and it's fine. You'll never recover full strength and the future looks a little ropey but my mate had surgery and said it was a nightmare with more ops in the future blah de blah.. I was out the water for about 12 weeks (very tentative swimming after 9 weeks). Rarely gives me any gip now (18 months later) but I'm aware the stability is t there. It's also made me wary of cycling - although I still do but I don't think I've skated since as I get a slight queasy feeling of 'if I fall I'm fucked..' Type of thing. Mind you I get that climbing stairs these days!! Hope this helps.. I'm a landlocked, 45 yr old kook living in London and once every couple of weeks.. Not sure if that helped or hindered my recovery (I sense helped ironically!) Ggid luck with it! :)

Cheers Ears.

Grade 2 separation. Back for another x ray in 2 weeks. Start physio in 6 weeks.

Probably not surfing for a while.
