hey everyone,
nice community thing going on here.
i'm older than most, and have been surfing since i was 12 on the east coast (usa), and have gone through periods of serious dedication. less psyched w water quality in Los Angeles County these days. would rather wait for less illness and better times out of town, which is limited by work. kind of a nomad at heart. traveled a lot for work, have seen many gems and surfed a few. made a couple surf films.
just happy to get in the water when i can.
keep riding :)

hi, sorry for my english...
My name's Florent (Flo), I practise more skimboard in france, but surf too.
I'm in the "Eden team", and I work for 4years at brussel's, and I need to train..
Are there skimboarder motivated to skimboarding during this weather? where is the shorebreak on the coast?

Thanks!

you can add me on facebook, "Florent Mouronval", send me a private message ;)

see you on the spot!

Hi, I have been a casual lurker here for a few years (with the odd post). Some good work on show and very diverse . I lean more towards the wood and older stuff, but have an apreciation for all boards generally. Although I'm mid 50's , I still get out there when theres waves in town. Mostly trad longboards , but have been a twin-fin rider since the 70's......its all good....tiora Kayu

Hey, I'm fairly new to the sport and super stoked after taking lessons last year.
Love to surf my local spots when possible. Currently riding a 7"2 Minimal and
am a goofy footer :). Not really posted much on MSW, but it's nice to read
about other people's sessions and tips on improving

See ya, Gromsaresostokedlike

sooo ... after a little mistake made by me, here is my introduction post in which i'd like to greet you everyone. My name is Emanuil from Bulgaria, and from what I saw till now i think i'd like to fill in my spare time with surfing. I am going to study at University of Aberdeen from September 2011 and i think i'll have some free time to kill. Back in Bulgaria i ride snowboard during the winter and do flyfishing in the summer... I really like my home country's nature, but i decided to continue my education in foreign country. I have never surfed, but i am considering the idea to buy my own surf (already chosen one), and get into business, i just can't wait till September... i am open for all kinds of criticism ( especially about my English) ... i think that's the most important things. I am really looking forward to communicate with you guys and hope my plan would work ...

Welcome mate, Scotland can be amazing for fishing, surfing and snowboarding. If next winter is like this one and you have a car or access to transport you'll be surfing or boarding or fishing every weekend. Some of the best salmon runs on the planet (if you can afford the passesd to access the beats).

I added to your other post about surfing in Aberdeen, the Uni has a club and you'll quickly find out about Aberdeen beach and how bloody frustrating surfing there can be!

Hi, well I'm from NW Spain, born in London UK. I've been surfing for just a couple of years now (longboards, shortboards, funboards, plywood paipos and all kinds of crazy 5hit). I unfortunately started quite late (so many years wasted) but I'm sure it'll keep me busy for life though.
Cheers.

Afternoon all.

Recently had some surf lessons after spending far too many years procrastinating the idea. Tried Scuba diving and other water based sports but non really floated my boat (excuse the pun!)

Anyway - Really new to surfing and MSW so trying to read and consume as much info as i can in between getting down to the coast. Sadly I live in Berkshire so its a struggle to get to the sea. Currently Boscombe is my training ground but, being 6'6" on tiny a little rental boards is making it a slow and frustrating learning curve.

So, hello all!

GDay All
Great to see a lot of the planet represented here. Whilst we live in different places the currents unite us all! Me i m 42 and been surfig for 32 years. I ride short boards a longboard and a 1973 single fin rhino chaser when the times right. I Still froth like a grommet the hint of a surf and even more nowdays as the opportunities to surf have gone from multiple surfs a week to opportunistic ( at least once a weekwheconditions allow) with parenthood and having to grow up a little ( only a little mind you ). Family life ismade easier with a family that loves the beachad the urfing lifestyle. When there's no waves i ride my Harleywhich is my other passion.

I live on the South Coast of Western Australia and we are pretty spoilt down here wave wise, More beachies and points than Reef where im from but i make up for that wth at least 2 trips to Bali a year, One with the Family and one with the Boys purely surfing and every other opportuity we get. When there, we stay mainly on Bali and Nusa Lembongan. Gave all the other Islands a thrashing in the younger days and apart from the ever increasing crowds love the Bukit particularly Ulu's and Padang Padang cant get bored with either even after 20 years. The crowds i can handle but blatant droop ins will see me turn into a nasty boy, something i havent even tried to correct, drop in om me more than once and i will hurt you  Other than that im a realy jovial nice guy :-)

Its great to see a range of people here from different countries, from old sea dogs to the new crew to the sport and my advise to those just startig or thinking of it..... Stick at it ...... surfing so rewarding in sooo many ways but having said that flat spells and crap conditions can test your mantle.

Remember it only takes ONE epic wave to make your day, week and possibly year! I still mentally re-live several waves from my lifes surfing journey and one wave i continuously reflect on is from over 20 years ago, another from last month!

So...... all in all thanks for having me on board keep the stoke, thanks for sharing your world, keep the world clean (especially the ocean and beaches), dont judge others, encourage those new to the art,be generous to those less fortunate than you and dont drop in and if you do and get punished.... get over it you deserve it! :blackeye:

Hi guys,
Been lurking here on and off for a few years, mostly in the shaping and design section(damn you Mr Royal).I'm 40,started surfing on the annual family trips to the west country as kid and then stopped for years (damn fool)but started again about 8/9 years ago and been hooked in ever since !
I live in Kent and am about an hours drive from about half a dozen spots, nothing near the quality of waves that most of you guys get but better than nothing, just stoked to get anything.
Really impressed by the work going on in the shaping section and Royal's wickes board created a new addict almost as soon as i'd read it.I'll try and post up a few of my efforts up when I get some time,(don't expect anything too special though!)

Cheers,
Gray.

Hi guys, Paul, 32, from Essex here. Was actually a member of this board a while ago but forgot my login details and couldn't find them!
Essex is probably the worst place in England to be for a surfer so would be good to meet anyone up for riseshare/trips etc :-)
