I'm going back and fore to San Sebastian most days. If you can find a definite address for the place I'll pop in and have a look. I haven't seen any signs advertising it though.

Just did some digging on google. It appears the name of the company is "Instant Sport" who are based in San Sebastian. According to a news report I read (in Spanish so I might be wrong) the actual 'garden' is in Aizarnazabal. I had a quick look on google maps and it is quite a bit further than San Sebastian. Any idea what it would look like from above? Could it be this: http://goo.gl/maps/TSEm

Just to give any interested people an update on this, I went and had a look yesterday.

From the motorway all the way until I went through the village of Aizarnazabal there weren't any 'turismos' signposts (like the brown tourist attraction ones in the UK). So that wasn't very promising. Even at the buildings around the area there wasn't a single signpost or any information about Wave Garden. The road towards the site clearly isn't a well used as I got lots of stares from people as I drove down the road. In fact, one cross-eyed guy riding a scooter drove off the side into the hedge. I don't know if that was a result of his stare or his eyes.

I couldn't get to see the 'garden' that I saw from Google Maps (link below). But they were building another concrete structure 200 metres to the south of the original.

Nope not been back yet. They allowed a special group to go and see/surf it and occasionally some other special guests, including my Doctor who is based in Biarritz: http://blog.surf-prevention.com/2013/07/25/wavegarden-le-test (Dr Guillaume Barucq).
I asked him if he could introduce me to the inventors and I'm still waiting for a response :-(

interesting point in that I don't understand it. Perhaps a comment on the energy wasted to construct and run the thing against which one might counter that it could perhaps mean fewer wasted journeys to the beach and the attendant rescource squeeze placed thereon. And indeed most leisure activities involve energy use (constructing alloys/carbons re bikes, pollutants re surboards, snowdomes, xfactore etc)

Then again it could be a comment railing against the removal of the search, the soul of surfing, the clambering over fields, treading the Yorkshire coast path just north of the sealife centre and south of the spa, or around areas north of Whitby. I found this an interesting piece in reaction to that : http://www.acmwriting.com/blog/?p=962

Either way I want a bloody go

Bit like climbing wall trained climbers going outdoors for the first time and dealing with approaches, route finding, birdshit etc.
