Wetsuit Repair!

Postby IonaKathryn » Fri Aug 03, 2012 9:17 pm

Hi, I am interested on whether you think starting a wetsuit repair service would be a good idea? I think that most regular surfers/water users will repair their own but I'm interested in peoples views/opinions on the subject. I have included the website which was set up earlier....any opinons would be appreciated :-D
Thanks!

Depends how good a job you can do..

I have fixed wetsuits with sewing with dental floss, but its never going to seal again, and any neoprene glue stuff just chafes really bad. If you can properly fix liquid taped seams etc then you'll probably have interest, I dunno of many people doing that at the moment that don't charge almost what a year or 2 old suit is worth

No it certainly is not me! well, its Shea Hodges surfing and to surf you need a wetsuit so yeah Its vaguely connected.
Well I would just be doing a basic job, about £15 to patch up a rip...
I just want to make money and be able to surf too.......
Yeah wakeboarding is fun- can't do it very well though :D

i think its a feasible idea allways a good number of suits in need of repair and if you can do individual orders through word of mouth forums etc could build a good little buisness plus worthing tapping up your local shops for there repairs.. 8) the main criteria is you offer a good reliable service and good quality repairs...

It's a great idea Iona, especially if you could offer liquid seams. Imagine buying a cheapo suit and then pimping it up for a nominal sum........

Large oaks from little acorns, etc etc.......look at all the big companies, had to start somewhere.

I wouldn't try and rely on it for a living though....the guy that does all the repairs for the major brands in the UK only scrapes by....and spends his days inhaling glue...gotta be better ways to make a living surely? Don't be expecting to travel the world on the money you'll make....
