I don't know if it was after watching this epic video right before bed about that Kamchatka trip that is all over the surf media, where there was basically no shortboarding.

But I had a dream about taking a 10ft longboard out on a big day at a wave here, and getting smashed haha. The biggest board I have ridden for at least 3 years is 6'8, and thats a full pintail semi-gun. Should I get a longboard? Is my subconscious telling me its a good thing to have or something?

Yeah. I even looked at flights after seeing that clip. Its not even that expensive from here. Can fly right into the peninsular a few miles from the coast for around a grand (its $1500, about £1000). You can see the potential on google maps, the hard part is getting around I guess, and whatever bureaucratic stuff there is to deal with. It was the centre of the Soviet submarine fleet, and shitloads of weapons are there, apparently there is more than one dead nuclear submarine under the ocean there. Its hard to get info on this sort of thing, but there are lots of heavy metals and radiation sources around the ocean there. http://www.kamchatkapeninsula.com/ngo.html

Thats my reservation about the place, although I guess it ain't gonna kill you in a month or so. And I'm not sure much of the north sea, or even places like sandside have particularly safe water quality..

I want to do a proper surf exploration trip though, there are still unsurfed epic waves in the world. I've definitely been to a couple of places where I have found the waves and not seen another surfer ever, but I don't think I've been far enough yet to really be in unsurfed territory. Its hard to find a good crew to organise a trip like this too, and maybe hard to justify when you can just go to indo..
