The feeling of gliding down that huge wave must be amazing but would scare the life out of me!

For me when it comes to big waves its the proposition not the action that gives you the heebie-jeebies. That initial decision to paddle out, especially if you are alone a long way from anywhere. Its looking over the ledge that's scary, the ones you pull back on and peer into the abyss that make you wonder if you really want it. Once you're committed and going your in the moment, there's nothing scary there whether you make it or not your just relying on your instinct.

Stand up barrels for breakfast today at Croyde (if you were lucky, I wasn't!) It looked like La Graviere.

I was on Splinter's old 5'8 Diplock and it wasn't quite the right choice  Still got some fun ones and a couple of nice views in between the floggings.

Fuggin heavy though... :o

Evil Danny!

Drove up the A1 yesterday lunchtime ish, the sea was huge at Thorntonloch, howling onshore.

Got in for an hour in some shelter but it was howling and snowy with a monster cross shore rip. I got my photo taken with an Aussie walking down my street who could not believe what I was doing.

Didn't half feel alive though.

Combesgate was ok, i could tell Croyde was heavy cos more people than normal opting for Combesgate! had some fun ones but not the size i was expecting. main beach was bigger.
good decision to take a 6'3 instead of a 5'9 tho! what were u thinking Archy!!

Indeed! However, I was in the sea with a mate who has just spent a couple of months living in Capbreton and it was him that said it

Technically 3 surfs today, SW Wales has been firing!

I say 3, one of them was a half hour dip which consisted of two and a half waves.. Well overhead on a 9' log, damn near shat my pants.

watched croyde on the cameras early this morning, looked utter filth! Wish I'd not been in the office yesterday as it was meant to be perfect round here yesterday, but so far 2013 has been very kind! and more for the foreseeeble. big enough for the sheltered spots to be interesting next week too by the looks of things!

Smelly - Big board would have been good this morning... Haynes was on 6'9" and got a smoker. I just got nailed

See ya early doors then??!

Ferral - was surprisingly quiet. Either that or people actually had a proper look and thought best of it

Mid-tide yesterday, looking much more user-friendly than the morning sand-slabs:

However, it was back to heavy-as-hell again this morning... Got a fin in the leg and almost dislocated my shoulder, but fun in a sadistic kind of way

That looks fun, wish I'd gone over there actually. Good banks at the Gate recently, had a top surf a couple of Fridays ago
