If there was any surf to be able to go in I could post loads. Been surfin since I was 16 over 20yrs ago was okay at it, an ear infection and a bit of arthritis and my surf days are always poor - have 1 or 2 waves which look like I've been surfin for years and many more which make me look like a pleb. I still love it though and as long as I'm in enjoying it, who cares...

^ Was El cranko a bit further south early am, Dannio. Wind got up later on, but i was having a self-satisfied kip at that point. Was none too shabby before sunset either.

Fuck all today tho.

Pitched up south of the Badlands early today and it looked lush. No wind and real fun sized waves.
Unfortunately I was there for a geocaching event (promised Mrs UD weeks ago) and didn't take any boards.
Turned out to be one of those 3 hrs swells........nothing left time we got home

As Black said
"Treasure Hunting for Geeks" according to the Daughter in Law.

Get a handheld GPS & a set of OS Maps.
Go on Geocaching website, choose a Cache (hidden item) and input the Lat & Long Co-ordinates.
Find it. Sign Log, Log your find on the website.
Repeat.

Much more fun than it sounds. Good caches should be set at places of Beauty/Historical Interest/end of a good walk etc etc. Been taken to a load of places that I would otherwise never have visited - some virtually on my doorstep.

Sounds like letterboxing on Dartmoor to me! Except until you find 100 you're not allowed to know where any of them are

big nasty messy swell on east coast...with north winds. perfect for one of our quiet slabs that work pretty rarely....

friday am...getting ready for a flyer from work to hit it...and start going down with flu..

cant surf it on the friday- gutted- think i will go home early dose up on vit C and get an early night to hit it at dawn...

flu gets worse during night..argh...miss the dawn session

and then miss the evening session...

only a couple out. both saying it was good..one underplaying it cos he knows i'll be gutted the other saying it was the best he has ever had it...urgh!

and then miss the sesh on it this morning as well!! argh!

i never get ill either ah well, it was nice to hear the tales from the two that did surf it.

Came off board duckdiving on Sunday (schoolboy I know  ) and grabbed leash before second wave hit. Normally grab a loop of leash so there is a bit of "give" when the wave hits, but got end if ring finger in loop, so now looking decidedly bruised and swollen! Plus I sucked. Unfit, waves too big for me, carrying too much weight for board.

The session was actually quite good until I got tangled up with the board whilst wiping out.
Next wave and the tail suddenly went sideways.............

Image

So if anyone stubs their toe at Godrevy on a LokBox LBC1 still in it box please let me know

I cut myself on the fin in the collision and hit the board hard enough to put a bloody great dent in the bottom
............so why I didn't I check the fins before getting another wave

Lesson learned.

Those fin boxes are virtually on the rail by the looks of it, what's the advantage there? I do wonder about strength in those designs. Also that board looks pretty new, or was it just a freak accident? Would be interested to know.

Crap afternoon at harlyn bay. No break and dumped every time anything came through. Waited for 2 and a half hours for things to change, as promised. Nothing doing. Delighted upon getting out to discover the wife had driven back to our house with my car keys. No access to my car, no change for a payphone, no-one about to borrow a mobile from. Cue the four mile walk with board along the cliff. Epic.

Not new, I've had it since November 2008 and it was 2nd hand then - (Number is early 3100's)
Think it was a sort of compound freak thing.
The ding I posted about a couple of days ago (Poly resin question) was right on the rail at the back of the fore sharks tooth - basicaly that bit of foam that is missing in the photo. That was caused by the board falling down whilst wedged into the front seats of the T4 free camping on the way back from Lacanau a couple of weeks ago. It was hardly terminal but it obviously compromised the strength. I filled it with sun cure. In retrospect a bit of false economy. I think my 185 lbs dropping onto it yesterday was the camel's back thing. TBH, whilst the fins are quite near the rail, the foam carries right out there and I've not heard of others with problems.

Also, I do like plenty of fin Image so i guess it was a just a case of force majeure.
