fistral again. why do i do it..glutton for it..kook, kook, consider it kooked....spent all day trying to pull it together just to get tired, stressed to the point i could only make 1 in 4 take offs. maybe i should dry out for a couple of weeks..nice waves but the skill had gone with the wind...

2 shit sessions over the weekend:

Saturday, up at 4:30am to get a nice dawn patrol in. Went to watergate, got my head kicked in on close out central. Overhead closeouts smashing me and my new board about 99% of takeoffs. 2 hours of that and i felt demoralised.

Sunday - afternoon session at whitsand bay (tregantle). small, unpredictable weak waves....but powerful enough to tear my camera from my shoulder and lose some good shots of me and my mate attempting the crud swell....

All in all - bollocks.

Stood on cliffs and watched a guy get pulled miles down the coast , nearly ended up in the water inlet of a Nuclear Power Station    Met the boy later in the day and he says he lost a contact lens while getting battered into the next bay.

Then I did the same myself , down the road a bit , used the rip to get out but cos of the swell direction the whole bay was flowing out the same place , thought I turned out of it but ........ 40 min paddle to get back in

Back up to the big beach where it was pulsing through overhead but I was surfing like a fanny.

I've had a rubbish surf

Perfect wind, perfect swell, perfect weather...

Now, if I only had perfect timing, I could have scored.

Instead, I rolled the dice and spent half an hour dodging death at a reef that had nowhere near the right amount of water on it, leaving no time to look elsewhere :?

Not been for 2 weeks. Was going to go last Sunday, take Monday off work and maybe even a half day Tues this week...except then I got food poisoning Sunday morning. Conditions were then the best theyve been for 2 months. Sat in bed, reading the surf reports in disbelief.

Start driving to porthcawl today, desperate for a surf, half an hour into the drive...brakes on car start sticking and brake pad starts smoking. Not safe to continue, have to turn back home. Car booked in for a service mid next week. Maybe next weekend. Bye bye paddle fitness.

Furious.

Yeah but thought coney would be do able in this wind. I tell you what, the lumus excels at coney - really makes the most of the slower wave there as it's such a fast board.

Yeah mate, still in bath, working in bristol. Still considering the move to cardiff at somepoint in order to be closer. Youre right though, devon weekend trips would make more sense sometimes. Do bude occasionally, which can be good.

Are you up North now then rather than bournemouth?

i surfed ventnor on a massive spring low
rocks boiling everywhere
bust a set of speed dialer fins
1 x rail
1x hole on base of board
1 x lokbox pushed thru the board

on my cherry tinted glossed baby
result
1x trip from isle of wight to north devon and back crossing 2 ferries and costing around £80 in travel and about the same again in repairs

all for a weak waist high

Too true Black - last thing my youngest lad said before I bolted out the door was 'I hope you come back ........ then he paused for a bit , which spun me out,........ and then said 'and play PES with me'........... we have just lost cabin pressure
