Hurricane 2012

Been a train of hurricanes heading off the W coast of the Americas towards Hawaii recently. Anyone know if they been getting good surf of it? Gotta be loving it if so. Do the hurricanes usually travel from E to W? I thought the normal pattern was travel NW to SE along the coast. Anything to do with the changes in La/El Niña/o?
