The goodwill board transport

Postby danny1 » Thu Apr 05, 2012 7:51 am

Building on the love in the indirect board swap. I travel the UK a fair bit by car and have transported people's/strangers boards before. Its not a courier service and you dont get convenience. but what you do get is safe & free transport and a board dropped off somewhere conveneient for the driver. Ill post up my journeys in this thread and others do the same. Dont take the piss - this has to be as convenient as possible for the driver.

In the thread post a journey or request a transfer.

Transfer requested: need a 5'8 taking from Aberdeen down to NCL. Anyone from aberdeen doing any of that journey soon? It could be dropped off in edinburgh if not down to NCL.

How soon Danny? Thinking of a trip to Northumberland probably end of the month or maybe early next. Will take van so got roofrack. Not definite though, grab an alternative if one comes up. I was chatting to a guy from Teesside in the water last night who said he is up here working quite regularly. If I see him again I will try and get his name in case you know him?

Nice idea Danny, I start work in the Portsmouth area from May 1st and will be travelling down to Plymouth Area most weekends (leaving Thursday evening / friday mornings), have a van so anything upto about 9'6" will fit inside. If you get the board to me or meet me along the route (M27 / A31 / A35 / A30 / A38)I I am happy to get it to Plymouth for drop or collection, PM me on here if I can help you out, Joe :-D

hi, thats a great idea Danny, something to add , if anyone wants to leave a board here in cornwall for someone else to pick up at a later date sometime that might be a help as well ,
say someone sells a board in wales and is coming to newquay ,brings board with them and then the buyer who say lives in brighton is coming to coenwall a month later picks up board, you get the idea, pete

Not totally sure what the plan is. Meant be getting together with some English friends and family, and it's a good central meeting spot, but trying to organise these things feels a bit like herding cats sometimes!

Probably surf if there's waves, climb if there's not. Be good to meet up if there's waves, said I would get in touch with gav next time I'm down, either for waves or climbing, so if you aren't about I could leave stuff with him.

driving the bus for the 6 peaks in July, for a donation I can carry a board anywhere between ....

S Wales
Liverpool
Heysham (Lancashire)
Snowdon (N Wales)
Scafell Pike (Cumbria)
Ben Nevis (Scotland)
Slieve Donard (N Ireland)
Corran Tuathail (Kilarney, Ireland)
then ferry to Holyhead (N Wales) and back to sunny S Wales via Crewe + Birmingham..

You would need to meet me enroute though as we're on a timer and i'll have 5 tired grumpy walkers in the back! for the same reason a log might not be feasible unless we have a roofrack which i will confirm nearer the time..

anyone know any spots close-ish to Kilarney? never surfed Ireland... no 20ft+ reefs thanks!! a nice shoulder to headhigh point would be dandy coz i'll be f00ked by the time we get there!

Newcastle area to Caithness at the w/e (leave Sat 02, arrive Thurso Sun 03), I could put up to two boards on the roof.
Return journey leaving Caithness Friday 08, back in the NE Saturday. Both journeys I can go either up the A1 to Edinburgh or the A68.

Cheers

Anyone travelling from Cornwall to the north? Want a board that's in Launceston. I'm in Warrington, Cheshire. M6 would be a good meet I guess.

Anyone going from South Wales to Helston in Cornwall or that sort of area. Will pay up to £20 fuel if they can pick up a board.

Not 100% confirmed yet but more than likely heading to N. Cornwall for Wed/Thursdays's Kirk swell. Leaving from S London very close to M25/A3 junction.

let me know if you need a board going either way.

Or if you wanna share fuel and some waves come along :D
