VW Camper Bay Window 1979

Postby Kamikaze » Tue Oct 09, 2012 4:05 pm

Sadly I'm selling my 1979 VW camper Bay Window.

I've had this since 1999 but I no longer use it enough to warrant keeping it. It's in good running order, and in nice condition inside and out. I've tried to keep the van original, it's not been lowered or modified if I could avoid it. A lot of these vans have had the interior ripped out and replaced with a homemade bodge, this is pretty original. I even have the original folding seats for it (not fitted).

A great van to drive, all the other bay/beetle/t25 drivers will wave as you go by, and you will get many an admirer stop to chat, you are never short of company in one of these.

You can fit a longboard in the back (I have had 3 in there before), I have a 9'6" (also rarely used) and it lies along the kitchen cabinets. At a squeeze you can even get into bed with your board inside the van)

Cheap to run, costs me £120/year to insure and tax is £220. Parts are plentiful and reasonably priced, If you want to get into classic cars this is a good value way of doing it, as long as you maintain it the value only goes up, you could buy this run it for a year and sell it for more than you paid.

It is located in Christchurch (near Bournemouth) Dorset.

-Orange body white roof (top half).
-Right hand drive.
-Kept under cover for last 8 years.
-Dormobile Roof Conversion. The bellows, window rubbers and skylights, were replaced about 4 years ago and are in good condition.
-4 berth double bed (Foam replaced about 3 years ago) + 2 bunk beds in popup roof. (bunk bed canvas replace 4 years ago).
-New engine 16,000 miles ago.
-5 new tyres.
-Towbar.
-Lap belts in the rear, so safe for kids.
-Aux battery.
-Wired for 240 volt. (handy on campsites, the GF can still use her Hair dryer and GHD's + save a fortune on gas)
-Gas fridge.
-Gas Hob/Grill (Original unit and folds away behind passenger seat, which save a lot of space compared to cupboard fitted units).
-Kitchen units are all original, has sink with electric pump.
-Propex gas blown heating. (Really handy after a cold surf, heats the van up in minutes).
-Safe (will fit small laptop/netbook or ipad).
-2 gas bottles.
-Krook lock.
-JVC radio cassette. (yes cassette, I did say I'd had the van since 1999)
-mot June 2013.
-taxed till Feb 2013.

£11,000

pm me if you are interested, and I'll give you a call or send you my number.

If it ever stops raining I'll take some better pictures and put them up. But here's 2 taken last month on my last surf trip.

Hi Reo

Sorry not really got a use for an accord, lovely car that they are. I've got a mondeo estate as a company car, which is one of the reasons I don't use the van so much.

If you are passing Bournemouth, feel free to pop in for a look. You never know you might get a surf in as well.

Bump

It's back up for sale if anyone is interested. October was possibly not the best time of year to sell a camper.

Really nice van, if I had the money I'd be straight in there.
Just noticed your numberplate, not a great surf forecast :-D

The old number plate has raised a few comments over the years.
