In the quest for something new, slightly shorter and newer it is with regret that "Bab's" / "Barbara Simmons" is now up for grabs.
I've owned her since November courtesy of Mr Griffster and its been a pleasure to ride. Goes well in anything from 1-2ft dribble to 6ft points.
Awesome mini Simmons shaped by Rob Lion of Royal Surfboards (currently working out of Santa Cruz Board Builders CA) in good condition.
A custom made modernised 'simmons'. The traditional rolled entry through to flat, to concave through fins. Lovely pinched rails, upturned, to eggy, to down rail to hard edge. Double glass with tail patch. Resin tint in the lam, ivory to green.
This is an updated version of a Mini Simmons, at probably just a smidge under 3" thick, rolled off into the rails, this baby is made to turn. Bellied entry for lovely lifting taking off and rails that give the board direction and release sweetly in the turn. No big puddle catching scoop in the noose, just a well blended s-deck to keep the foam where it need to be. As with all of Robs equipment, built to fly - built to last. Absolute mush-buster but loves the clean stuff about to about head high. This one does have a few heelie compressions. A lovely board with many years of life left."
Bottom is pretty clean with a couple of minor pressure dings, rails are also good, 2 re-repaired dings which has now been recently colour matched by Toots in Swansea. Deck has some compression dings but on the whole the board is in good condition. Certainly since I've owned it its picked up a few more deck compressions, none of which are anything to worry about. I've yet to clear the wax of it for up to date pics but you can see the board again on Mr Griffsters blog here :- http://finsandthings.blogspot.co.uk/
Apologies for lifting Mr Griffsters low down on the board but its easier to cut and paste.
I'd love to keep it but I've ordered a new Simmons / sold an Epoxy longboard / Quad fish and I'm looking to replace it so :-
I'm going to consider a swap / part ex / for either a nice longboard (2 + 1) or something fishy / something with a little shape around the 6' 2 " mark, retro fish or quad BUT nothing with too much volume as it will be too similar to what I have already sold (6'4 x 22.5 x 2.5/8) so anything that size or bigger forget it. For people wanting to buy it based on the fact that I've colour matched the dings and added a few compression marks I'm looking for £300 which includes lox box Pavel twin fins and I'll throw in some replacement Lok Box screws (£1.50
) for free.
Frenzy commence for a lovely board by renowned shaper.
