Surely a wood-smith of your caliber should be fashioning his own alaia.

thomas,
have you got any western red cedar lying around, or maybe a wide bit of ash?

Skels - I got a bunch of Pawlonia that I never got round to gluing up and shaping, but it wasn't particularly cheap unfortunately...

However, I would let you gave it for a reasonable price old chap.

BTW - I also have a burgundy Persian rug, 5x4' I think. Keen?

Big congrats (belatedly) to you both, too.

Off the top if my head, it will be 7'6ish by 23"ish once glued up and about an inch thick.

Village Idiot will probably know better than me, but Pawlonia is super light and does not suck in water. Obviously, you will still have a wooden surfboard, so it's not going to be featherlight, but it will make a difference!

You got clamps? All you need is boat glue. There's some industrial grade stuff that I can't remember the name of, but it's easy to get hold of.

Will call in a bit

Skel,I have a stack of W.R.C. sitting outside the workshop, Geoffrey picked it up at a farm sale. Otherwise Letharby's has a shed load of very lightweight local yellow and red cedar. Cheap too, which I know you like ! I have that Roy Stewart alaia template in the cave too, which I will lend you in exchange for a look at your baby.
