met this dude via another dude who i thought was pretty stand up.

Me and this other dude get on well. having good crack with each other, pub banter, fanny banter etc etc...but i knew he was a c*nt- something wasnt right. But I was having good crack so just thought i was being a c*nt.

One thing led to another and about a month later i lent him £100.

wife went nuts- but am like he is cool "andy introduced him". My wife knows fookin everything!

He said him and a few mates were pooling some cash and buying some domain names to sell. This other lad i know was doing it so i was in too. This fella sold the domain names and made us all another £100 on top of the original. Everyone high fiving.

that was 4 months ago - no cash returned

the moral- your gut is right- trust it

and your wife is usually right too

That sucks mate. I guess be thankful it was 'only' a ton. Some poor souls get fleeced for their lifesavings.

I drunkenly bought www.surf.net for that - just not in english language!!! trusted my gut....

Chap in my old local we used to play pool with, good guy, had kids, hard worker. Used to strip and renovate pubs etc that had gone into receivership, during a lock in one night he was telling everyone about the pub he was working in. They had taken 6 plasma tellys out, (bear in mind this was 2001 and they cost a few grand then). So 4 of the lads bought them all off him. 300 quid each.

About a week later it dawned on everyone that he'd only been coming in the pub for about a month or so, and had just played a blinder. Charmed his way in, made everyone think they had known him for ages. And screwed them out of a lot of money. Never seen again. Turned out he had also done it on 3 other pubs in the town.
