leash or wetsuit key pockets

I use my Balin leash key pocket, pretty good.

More often than not I will go out without a leash so that means I leave it somewhere around the vehicle. Not a problem before when I had my cavalier as is wasnt worth nicking but now I have my new car I dont fancy this.

I wear a pear of boardies with a zip pocket underneath my wet suit for my key.

never wear anything under my wetsuit. Always gone commmando. Mate wears a pair of cycling shortswhich he swears are like a rashie for his jewels.

i wear a pair of lycra shorts under me wetsuit and it has a key pocket ! i find them perfect for the job. i used to wear them when playing rugby! im sure they help with your hamstrings aswell.

wetsuit pocket - electronic key - vivaro van - no problems - keys been in the water on and off for 6months now, has sea rust where it joins the plastic but the electronics are fine

doesnt really matter where i put it these days leash or suit, seein as when i get out the water my hands are sooo fuckin numb, i cant get to the damn thing for about a half hr afterwards anyway.

I dont get the leash pocket idea as it does my ankle in having a big lump pressing against it!

Ive always sworn by the normal wetsuit pocket - never had a problem! Even if the keypocket ripped off it wouldnt be going anywhere as its IN your suit!

My new suit doesn't have a pocket (for £250 you'd expect them to include a frikin pocket!) so im now using the srtring round neck idea! (bit annoying but better than leash pocket!)


Stashing your key is too dodgy these days!

i dont own a posh car with electrical keys so i just use the leash pocket.

When i hired a car to go surfing i did use this to protect the posh key though

Its a little bulky and is best positioned down the back of your wettie.

For the nervous surfer you can take a mobile out with you unall

Saw a sort of oversized combination padlock thingy that attached to the tow hook on the back of the car and is used to store your key. Definately do the job but looked a bit geeky and a determined thief knows for sure where your car key can be found.

ok heres what u do. Lock all your vaulables carefully in your car...then this is the clever bit...hide your key on your tyre..no one will ever look there.. In case your mates come back first be sure to leave a note on the windscreen detailing where the keys are so they dont get locked out too. My neighbour actually did this once with his house..

Thanks every one for your help , i ask as i use the string method , but nearly came unstuck at widemouth when it came undone and was hanging out of my suit , (long walk back to plymouth)
