these could include secret additives to diets,playing with weather systems ,puttingthe price of sky tv up,manufactured boom and bust,price fixing,manufactured phoney wars,media misinformation to name but afew.

I could have gone for big bucks and was offered them and a partnership in the 90s but I chose the public sector in a (increasingly misguided) hope to put something back having been funded for 5 years Uni study. Thats not to say my mates who chose the city and big bucks are shitheads, I tell them, fuck that the deals they arrange and sort are paying taxes to fund schools, hospitals so vicariously they build hospitals (unless they work for google and amazon).

I think with the internet a new avenue of unfiltered communication has opened up. Historic themes do repeat but every moment is a new opportunity. So don't beat yourself up if you have a iPhone or whatever, just take small steps and be positive.
