California's last fatal shark attack was in August 2003 when a woman
swimming with seals
was attacked close to a beach in southern California.
Doh !!

a good reason for having spongies about - with their fins they look more seal like - lol

Swimming with seals? Man. This is going to sound harsh, but it's her own damn fault a shark got her...

i had a seal swim right underneath me the week before Alex when the sun was shining and the water was crystal clear - i just saw this dark shape glide underneath me and i was in a mad panic trying to match the silhouette against anything in my memory and coming up with nothing - then it popped its whiskery head up about 10m away

He he he - that's given me the mad idea of Terminator vision, flashing up lots of different sillhouettes before flashing (in red, of course)

I had the same sort of experience with a dolphin fin coming up behind me while surfing in Byron Bay, didn't help that the aussie surfer next to me had seen it first and mentioned that a diver had been taken round the corner the week before just as I saw the fin - thank god for surfing in boardies, i'd have hated the clean up job on a wetsuit...
