What do you need in terms of space/bandwidth/features?

IMO there are loads of extremely low cost web hosts out there. Everything on the internet can't be free! Pay a quid or two a month and be done with it.

There follows some nerd stuff.
Alternatively for low bandwidth stuff, I run a webserver at home. My cable modem connection is 1.5mb down and 256kb up. The speed is ok unless you have a lot of visitors or loads of images. I dont recommend that you do that unless you know a lot about web servers and security.

I have MRTG running on my Windows 2000 box, it graphs the bandwith usage, connections to my WiFi access point, memory, disk space, yada yada yada....: http://1ud.net/stats/

Ok,
I don't know yet how much space I'll need.

Oh and one other thing, at the moment I'm trying to get dreamweaver for the web maker, isa that the best or is there better?

i'm hosted by D4 Hosting, they're American based but very cheap, and I've never had a problem with them. I know the guy who runs it personally, so I can definately vouche for the service.

With a domain name, I think 100mb's of space with PHP/MYSQL, etc. is about £24 for the year.

Try http://www.icdsoft.com.

They're an "international" webhosting company out of Hong Kong and New York. It's about 40 pounds ($65) for a year, including the url registration. They have excellent support, web-based ftp and free scripts. 333 MB, and unlimited email addresses. Excellent.
