World Wide Wave buoy & other resource thread

Postby Poo Stance » Mon May 07, 2012 1:33 pm

Thought I'd start this as a possible useful resource for anyone anywhere.

I'm off to Portugal for work while there's waves and free time while there's none. Typical, thanks life. Anyway, found this to help me get some waves, maybe...

Click the buoy on the map and then you have the 'tablas' tab below to open up for data/info. Simples.

----- Obviously there is NOAA too

UK: http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/maps/United_Kingdom.shtml
And their other products: http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/rmd.shtml

Anyone got any live buoys for the Canaries?

And you said you're too lazy to resize your board photos, this research would suggest otherwise!

Anyway ta, off there myself ina few weeks. MSW now do a Sagres south report too so catches any s swells coming up from the bay that might get the south facing spots working
You're too deep Camel..its Indo not Margaret River

Live wind maps

UK, France, Spain/Portugal & Italy = www.xcweather.co.uk

USA = http://hint.fm/wind/ & http://windmapper.com/

Any other good tools people want to list by country would be sweet.
If I can be arsed and there's enough info I'm gonna try and get these websites all housed in one place on the net.

Sweet. Here's another some more assorted UK buoy data. Says Channel Coast but there's some others thrown in.

http://www.channelcoast.org/data_manage ... ta/charts/

check the 'latest' tab on some buoys for live '5 second' updates... watch those long period sets come in that don't always show on NOAAs.

Well. I'm slowly putting this together here... http://placesinthesurf.weebly.com/

Not very populated yet as you can see. Would be sweet if anyone has anything to add. This will prob be a slow burner as I'll only add the links as and when I stumble across them.

I'm thinking the info I want to include will be: Live Buoy, Live Wind, Tide charts, some basic photos of ONLY the popular well known spots (could be contentious) only to give some eye candy, video's of spots as well (again main ones only), links to local blogs which people can may trawl through for regional info, and any other useful surf resource (maybe surf shop links?, second hand sites selling boards?).

Anyone got any suggestions? Or should I just give up now?
