Just returned home from an epic week in Taiwan.



The place pumps and I counted 5 other surfers (apart from our crew of 4) the whole time I was there.
The trip was shot by Moonwalker and will be run in the next issue of Pacific Longboarder Magazine - due for release in late December (plus a vid of the trip).

Yeah the rivermouth beachies were real hollow. That photo above is of one of those the places. There's a vid on my blog showing some of the waves in the area.

Wow!! Flights times?

It was about 11 hours of flying and I paid £650 for flights, think it can fluctuate a fair bit though as my mate got stung for £900. On the plus side Cathay Pacific were cool with boards.
The food is awesome and super cheap over there, so didn't have to spend a lot.

Somewhere to think about and have on the radar at least.

I've been thinking about Taiwan for a while. Can you give me an idea of swell size/consistency? I guess the tail end of Tyhpoon season is a good time to go. Apart from flights what were you spending a day roughly?
you should check out Senegal next year!

Saw a short film on Senegal not long ago, the place looks rad. In the vid people came across as real friendly, with a chilled vibe.

Taiwan's East and South Coast both pump at different times of the year. Surf hasn't really been capitalised over there yet and the main guys are http://www.surftaiwan.com they've got vids and info on the waves and whens best on the site. The cost of living was cheap out there, a steak, noodes and fried egg meal cost £2 at a night market. Sushi and sashimi were amazing and real cheap.
