Algarve....but actually an interesting question for once!

Booked a last minute Algarve trip next week. Having spent nuff time out there recently I know where I'm going BUT the forecast looks proper proper big, much bigger than any days that pushed me east to Lagos in the past.
So....wondering if anyone can tell me about access to the beaches off Faro, the islands, or around Carvoeiro (sp) and Praia da Rocha....all of which i've heard but not been to. And of these spots which are good, which are just for the Portuguese, and which are shit.

i stayed in carvoeiro one year and theres no way the main beach there would get a surfable wave? I could be wrong though.. the time I was there a massive swell was running but there is too much of a shelf so it just turns into a shorebreak. definitely surf around praia de rocha though, like that area.

Good left off the groin at Praia Da Roche that gets quite busy with locals and then peaks along the beach, first surfed it in 1970 (showing my age)
