Gopro gone-pro!

Postby Black » Thu Oct 31, 2013 9:17 pm

Got to get this off me chest, release some annoyance....
Paddling out at Fistral tonight, two thirds of the way out to the line up, getting a bit of a pounding. Ducking a big wave the board gets ripped from my grasp and slips straight backwards, turn round and reel it back in - just a shard of clear perspex on the front of the board! Feck meeeeeeeee!!
I looked down in the water, think of trying to swim down to the bottom however far that might be, with a board on a leash, hmmmm, still being pounded no letup, must be out of position by now anyway - gave up and paddled in avoiding the shard on the front of the board.

So all those barrels left & right that I had, the kerrupts and the hang 12 are not on video - damn!

I had a go pro mount on my longboard which a mate was borrowing to learn on. He is a keen MTBer and Skier so had his own go pro and wanted to film himself. On his 4th or 5th wave he didn't paddle hard enough, got the back of the board tipped up, slid forward and effectively removed his camera and the top layer of my board with it. Never seen again.

Oooch! So gutting. At least in that case you might have found the camera in tact. In my case the actual plastic casing broke so the camera would have been waterlogged anyway. On the up-side there was no video to lose for me though.

Don't worry Black looks like Taylor Steele got most of your footage locked down.

Congrats on your innersection segment :-)

Almost 3 years on another camera (18 months old) is residing in Davy Jones' locker - expensive bugger up of a takeoff!
I'm over this camera shit.

One final twist in the tail. I used a gopro pic from the last lost camera to enter a competition to win some tech - AND I WON!!! :-D
I never win anything so it was a real shock and the value is more than the camera cost. Result!

64gig micro SD

Is the stick decent? Let me know if you want to get shot of it? Kids and I had great fun using a cheap one to film fish in rockpools on holiday until it got dropped and the mount snapped.

Yes it feels like good quality. Will let you know if I do want to get rid of it. Not sure just now.
