You lucky lucky man - you will love it, spent 1 week in four there for a couple of years in the mid / late 90's

Surf a few hours north of Saigon around Nah Trang, Danang, Hoi Ann, Hue etc best season Spet - March ne/w monsoon and during tropical cyclones

Surf club in Danang and all the local members became life guards in The Furama Resort and where sent to Aus for training when I was there.

Its pretty fickle, a lot of the points and rivermouths are difficult to access. Most of the better breaks start from Danang up to Hue. October to December your best bet

I know a place that you can learn surfing: Sailing Bay resort of Mui Ne - Phan Thiet which is quite near HCMC (190km)
From October to May, the northward coast of Phan Thiet is convenient for kiteboarding. There are many types of surfings that can be played such as kite surfing, boat surfing…
And you can easily find a coach there. :-D

Hello!
When moving to ho chi Minh city you could keep an eye open for interesting speedboat trips. I am not sure if there are similar ones like in Thailand but keeping an eye open couldn't harm.
Maybe you find similar trips like the phi phi island by speedboat tour offered by Club Champagne Phuket.
