How do i find the best surfspots (Australia)?

Postby yourpalpete » Wed Dec 29, 2010 11:49 am

I'm about to start a surftrip from North New South Wales (Coolangatta) to Western Australia (Perth) and i don't really know how i can find the best surfspots.
My fear is to end up at a crappy surfspot when the world class break is just around the corner. So how do you guys do it?
The things i can think of are:

-Stormriderguide or rather a surfguide just for Australia (any suggestions?)
-Read on the Internet (my experience was that you can't really rely on the stuff on the internet e.g. they occasionally don't even mention Duranbah and/or overate Surfers Paradise...)
-Ask at Surfshops

Thanks for your help

Hey man
I did the same trip a good few years ago in a previous life and i found a combination of other surfers, forecasts, maps, luck and locals etc proved invaluable.Put yourself out there and enjoy.
