Dawn patrol.
Beautiful, peaceful day out this morning, alas missing waves mostly.
Started off maybe hip high at best but shrank to knee very fast.
Ultra clean.
Kind of nippy with a light NE wind and temps in the minus and sea water @ ~5C.

4.30 am start with Harkii – in before the sun was up – caught two waves , swell backed off so we jumped spots, drove down the coast , down a shitty farm-track to see a left point going off, some of that, decided it was better to drive along this even shittier beach track, got nearer the point, swung the van onto the pebble beach to reverse , got the fucker stuck.

Spent the next 40 minutes digging the van out, got my Orca suit covered in oil , drove out to where we used to park, farmer had put feeding troughs in there for his cattle, so drove back up the main road totally fucked off, turned round to see the point firing again – decided to go back to first spot, got there , nothing, took off wetties, driving away, turn round to see it all lined up again ……………………… couldn’t be arsed getting changed again…………………..only consolation was my 1st wave was sweet. :-(

Yesterday at my local spot (Maasvlakte): chunky, brown, windblown but had enough height to it to make a few drops.

In northern Spain. Nearest break is 10 miles and the MSW forecast is consistently double the reality. Most frustrating.
Also MSW describes it as uncrowded..... ha! Only if you choose your time wisely.

where are you mate? Weird shadow effect i was finding in Spain. I was near https://magicseaweed.com/El-Brusco-Surf-Report/175/ all summer... takes lots of swell to get it going for some reason...

Back in blighty tonight - I was west of Santander... that post referred to Gerra but I have a stoke post for Liencres yesterday when a good swell period hit and created the easiest fun waves I've been in for some while - apart from destroying my leg in the process. Both are on MSW forecast so I guess its ok to put names in.

Neither - Brittany Ferries booked by friends on some deal. Was cheap but not under my control.

i had a couple decent waves within the first 15 minutes of getting in, but then it went shit real quick.

it was definitely better than a good day at work and meant the rest of the day was less painful...

3-5 foot my arse, more like 5-8+
One wave and over an hour of heart attack inducing effort.
Cured the hangover though! :-)

Waves looked ok this morning with very light winds so took some time out to have a go. Leash broke on first wave (a small one) so went back to car for a spare. Car key broke! Eventually got back in the water and 20 minutes later a ridiculously strong unrelenting onshore hit, driving horizontal rain - to be fair it was forecast to increase but I was optimistic! Still having difficulty getting to my feet at all, seems like I've reverted to kook status.

Not the best surf in the world, could have done with a little more period and size and definitely could’ve done without some ducker smashing the rear window of the car

Place was in the middle of ducking nowhere - wasn’t parked badly and first time this has happened in 20 years....

Very lucky just to have a smashed window to deal with
