My lower back is playing up big time. It's not even on the list above!!

Had a surf this morning which should have been fun but wasn't...........

Getting worried that at my age this just isn't going to heal and will really restrict my golden years...........

Its hard to bear sometimes (see my moaning bit in the "post your pics" thread), I often worry.... "will I ever do a floater again?" Utterly hate getting older, oddly I never saw it coming

i may have to have surgery for what is essentially a varicose vein that is deforming my skull.. thinking about the best time to do it, probably wait til the summer when it is going to go flat. can only see me not being allowed in the water for a couple of weeks max

got a tiny little scratch clamerbing over some rocks in Portugal at the start of last week. surfed all week and it became a small sea ulcer, but nice and clean with the salt water and daily betadine cleaning. Last surf on thurs and flew home on Firday so forgot about the cut. Sat am, my leg is painful and there is infection around the cut, oh well, a bit more betadine and leave it. by Saturday lunch I'm in real pain and three dark red lines of infection snaking out of the cut for a few inches. off to the minor injury unit and put on super strength anti-biotics and strict instructions not to even think about getting it wet till its fully healed. The surfs been cooking since

Not a chance! The worst thing is these antibiotics have to be taken on an empty stomach so I'm always hungry.

haha yeah, I'm a massive fan of gaffa tape first aid - although I once ended up with worse scars from liberal gaffa taping than i did from the stitches I was protecting.

Going to be more careful than normal this time though, I found the speed the infection can spread pretty freaky. Have heard a few nasty infection stories too- a similar thing happened to my old man on a van trip to morrocco back in the day and he ended up being hopsitalised in France and nearly permanently lost mobility in his ankle, but thats not as bad as a mates brother, who surfed at medawi with a deep cut, passed out shortly after and by the time he was found and taken to hospital the indos wanted to amputate to save him!!

Water leaks out of my nose about 5-6 hours after surfing. Usualy at the worst times possible, and its not just a dribble, if i caught it in a pint glass I would probably be able to fill it to just over quarter way full in a couple of seconds.

ah the brain drain, surprisingly pleasant and sign of a good session, or at least aof having been upside down underwater at some point which comes to the same thing pretty much.

Anyway, fucking broke my fucking thumb. Damn near good as landed a last jump at the end of a some mtb dh track. Hand and wrist in a cast. Thumb's well set up for hitchhiking (it''s set in a kind of perma-shacka) which is as well as I'll not be insured to drive until the fucker's off. Not meant to get it wet, and putting on a wetsuit ain't exactly erm, possible. Yeah that's the word. Possible. And I'm less hard than Danny1 so boardies are out. Have you seen the NE forecast? I reckon I did that.

Ageing climbers taking up MTB and surfing

Got hung up on take off on a promising wave, must avoid guy paddling out, snook round behind him pulling a full on backside bottom turn, legs straining at speedy g-force, hit a chop & ankle gives way.... end of wave plus ankle strain. Combined with earlier 20 minute nose bleed for no reason a kind of odd day???? Ankle now feeling fragile.

^^^ unlucky mate it's murder getting older, but the alternative isn't attractive. This week I am mostly wearing a tweaked knee & my old shoulder injury is back, feels like it has it's own wee fire built into the joint

I had a hell of a year last year with my back. It kept me out of the water for most of the year. Was trying everything from accupuncture to light touch therapy to back stretching machines all were little or no good. I've now made alot of changes that have helped (like getting made redundant!!) and I'm feeling better than I have for years. But I do think the biggest single contributor was this book. I read it once then again a few months later. It was the second time when it all sort of clicked into place (no pun intended!). Its a bit of a weird one to get your head around but for me the difference has been amazing (once I started doing what he suggests). That and Yoga. Can't say enough good things about yoga either!!!!
