SUP haterz

Postby insideout » Sun Jan 21, 2018 9:28 pm

Just want to say publicly that I bought a SUP and I like it. I am openly apologising to any Sup rider out there that I’ve hated on in the past.

Warmest regards from the Mediterranean.

Found a sweet spot behind Nice Airport in a river mouth. Google map or YouTube it. Goes off from 0.5m swell and upwards!

great things so long as you're not sharing waves with prone surfers, had too many boards dinged and bits of body bruised to be tolerant of them any more!

Too many days down here when you rock up at a spot and it’s just knee high and perfect, but unsurfable on anything other than a Sup.

A tool for every job,

and go carefull where you store it ISO, or leave on the roofrack, this happened last weekend,
no warranty on heat damage, it was 42 deg c, my surfboard was on top of it no damage and also EPS.

Now I’ve bought one and tried it in some different conditions, I realise that a quiver of SUPs is definitely required!

That’s crazy... is this a common problem?

apparently not uncommon for sup's due i'm told to the large amount of EPS foam, i've never had it happen in all the EPS surfboards i've had, and i've had loads since i got my first in the 1980's when Clyde Beatty of Rocket Fish fame came to Cornwall for a few years. Have been in contact with the company and they have offered a good discount on a new board and reckon the board being in a bag is worse in hot weather as it literally cooks. It could also have been a pin hole around one of the fin boxes and the foam has reacted with seawater. I mentioned the pressure relief valve, could it be faulty? they reckon not as it only lets pressure out
Not sure what to get next, either same company or second hand Hypernut, or a SMIK, who used to design for Starboard but now has his own range.

Well that looks like the reason to me. That board has heated up and expelled air as it expands through the valve and then cooled without being able to suck air back in it will collapse inwards - no?
