Surf charter boats

Postby insideout » Sun Mar 01, 2015 10:22 am

Wondering if you can help,

I'm trying to compile a definitive list of surf charter boats and companies in the world.

I've done the whole google search thing but looking to see what else turns up in here.

Thanks

Yours truly back in 1990. Cruising the inland waterways of France.

I used to carry my board but not used a lot, as you can imagine.

Just wanted to share.

Nice that Phil. How long did you live on it for?

We started in '84. Then '85 on a different barge. Back on this one for '90, 94 & 95.

We used to take rich Americans on weekly charters. Great tips but very hard work.

This barge is the one featured in Rick Steins French odyssey but we had left by then.

Looks good Phil but not quite what I was after haha.

Trying to find another job on one, was working on the boat below for a while. Nearly done a year on current boat and wouldn't mind getting on another surfy boat.

Get in touch with Martin Daly, used to have a fleet of boats, after all he discovered the 'Mentawai's,
heard he was doing more South Pacific now, loads of horror stories about boats full of Brazillians causing mayhem last season, as reported by ozzie mags.
You could try Norway, loads of big trawlers, 6 months on 6 off, not the best rota, but northern hemi winter away in the sun!!

Actually spoke to Martin and semi got offered a job with him a year ago but had already signed a contract for another boat so couldn't accept.

Still check in every now and then with him, would be sick to get involved with his fleet. Dream job and engineer jobs seem to still be well paid on surf boats.

The search continues.... Haven't looked into trawlers yet, rotation would be nice!
