Shandy wrote:Won VIP tickets to see Sly and the Family Stone last Saturday. They weren't much cop to be honest...complained all the way through their set about the sound levels of their mic's, and during the 1.5hours that they played Sly was on stage for about 10minutes of it, the crowd was booing at one stage, pretty poor show. The two support acts were fantastic though, with the highlight of the night being Unkle Jam who were entertaining and sounded great. Seemed strange how the support acts had no problems with their sound levels and put on a great performance, and the main act sounded crap and totally lost the support of the crowd.
May go and see Isaac Hayes this week.

creamfields was absolutely quality. just listened to highlights, im still sort of half knackered, half buzzing 2 days later. hard to pick highlights, whole 15 hours was amazing, but sven vath, one and one, eddie halliwell, mark eg were all quality. lost my favourite pair of raving sunglasses though  they only cost me 2 quid ages ago but had sentimental value.

Thought I'd resurrecte this - not quite been but looking forward to seeing Stiff Little Fingers at the Barrowlands in Glasgow on St. Patricks Day (17th March) - meant to be bonkers :-D last time I saw them was their last UK mainland gig before they 'retired' on the Go For It tour at the Appollo

Supported by one of my favourite bands from back in the day - Spear of Destiny

Last gig was last year in Lisbon and it was Faith No More at last years Oleiras Alive, saw them first in Reading 1990 then again in 1999 so the reform was something to look forward to, anyway they were great, Kasabian also played and they were not so great, Alice in Chains also played and they surprisingly rocked, might be strange to you brit boys but Bify Clyro were on first and they were not too bad. Might be going to see Slayer with Megadeth in Lisbon soon, not quite the big four but will be good. This years festival line up in Lisbon looks a tad gay. Coldplay are headlining at Alive-gay, as are Muse-sorry but super gay. We do get some good Jazz in the Park concerts here in the summer which is nice unfortunately there are also reggae festivals playing at "Surf" events, so if you surf then you must like reggae. Not a fan. On a totally different note 3 years ago I saw Bryn Terfel in Carnegie Hall with a load of Welsh choirs, amazing stuff.

Yes I did, have to say again they were the surprise of the year for me, I did have "Dirt" about 17 years ago and liked it but after seeing them last year I bought the greatest hits stuff and their new album, really good stuff, surprised I did not appreciate them so much 17 years ago.

Saw them at the Odeon in Edinburgh (when they used to show bands) when I was just a wee lad of about 12 I think.....it was when they released Inflammable Material. First live band I ever saw....what a band to start with....was mental and scary as the upstairs goons started chucking the seats downstairs. Was when mods/punks/skins were all the rage....and I had a spike and docs

They were seriously good though...blew my mind at the time.

Ah SLF! they were a bit incendiary back in the day.Saw em on their fist main land tour [supporting TRB I think] in Bristol. The only bands that have come close to that gig down the years have been The Clash,Bunnies [Barrow Lands] early Killing Joke [very physical gigs] and Mogwai. Would love to see EMA and The Afghan Wigs.
